WHITELIES appreciates the sneaker liaison of the year between NIKE & Virgil Abloh by presenting an exclusive release series of all ten reconstructed classics. NIKE x Virgil Abloh: Ten Icons Reconstructed launches globally at NikeLab stores and selected retailers like Colette, Dover Street Market, Voo Store, Comme de Garcons or SOTO Store beginning November 9, 2017.

For a new millennium, Nike altered perceptions of fit forever. The Nike Air Presto’s lead designer Tobie Hatfield knew that there had to be other ways to make a running shoe work with its wearer. By carving out a section of the collar to relieve tension, it freed the foot. Reductionist principles, a new discovery in seamless stretch mesh and a minimal but effective use of cage elements led to a new kind of sizing based on the way t-shirts are sold. Released in 2000, this shoe led a new creative vanguard with an unforgettable use of color and regional makeups, including special editions created as part of the co.jp Japan-only release program. Coinciding with the ascent of Internet culture and streetwear’s new wave, the Air Presto was the ultimate accessory and one that’s still deeply influential.
