Geert Goiris photographs are surreal, sometimes even romantic, fictional stories, which take the viewer on a journey to isolated spaces and wonderful worlds, but stay in close connection to reality.
In direct opposite to the Dusseldorf School of Photography and Bernd and Hilla Becher’s students, like Thomas Demand and Andreas Gursky, Geert Goiris photographs are neither documental nor rigid. His photographs speak the language of traumatic realism, the clashing of reality with fiction. It’s the chice of object and its displacement in time and place, which evoke the feeling of disillusion and surrealism.
