LONG DISTANCE INFORMATION

Director Douglas Hart's black comedy Long Distance Information explores the strained relationship between a father and a son, and features music by Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals and a title sequence by Turner Prize-nominated artist Jim Lambie. Here, the London-based Scottish filmmaker and Jesus & Mary Chain bassist talks about the project.

“The film is based on my experience of leaving my hometown to start a band, much to the dismay of my father. I was obsessed with movies and TV from an early age, and my real dream was to somehow find work in those industries. No one in my immediate universe had such a job—a fact that was underlined by my school careers officer who, when I told him about my ambitions, presumed I meant I wanted to be a TV repair man or a cinema projectionist."
