WALDEN 7

Located on the fringe of Barcelona, WALDEN 7 is a manifestation of Ricardo Bofill’s utopian vision of social living. Designed by not only architects, but by a group of urban planners, engineers, philosophers and psychologists, it is an attempt to provide a solution to the problems of modern life in cities. Community life is meant to be stimulated by the building’s complex structures and networks of walkways. Built in the early 1970s during the Franco regime, it can be understood as as a utopian vision whose name is inspired by the works of Henry David Thoreau and B.F. Skinners.
